296 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the position in relation to the CAP Review; if he has held discussions in Europe in this regard; and if he has had discussions with other EU Ministers on this matter, particularly the Ministers who support the Government's view in this regard. On 10 July 2002, the European Commission published a communication on its mid-term review of the Common Agricultural Policy. After consultation on this communication with the Council of Ministers and the European Parliament, the Commission intends to bring forward its detailed proposals. The communication was discussed in the Council of Ministers in July and September and will continue to be discussed in the Council in the coming months. Apart from the discussions in the Council, I have discussed the proposals bilaterally with the French Minister for Agriculture and Food and further bilateral meetings with my ministerial colleagues and Commissioner Fischler are planned in the period ahead.
