750 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science his policy in relation to the recognition of service in teaching posts in the Dublin Institute of Technology; and the way in which it bears on a person (details supplied) in Dublin 5. [17389/02]
The issue of recognition of prior part-time service for incremental credit purposes is currently being considered in the context of discussions on the implementation of the Protection of Employees (Part-Time Work) Act, 2001, which are ongoing between my Department and the relevant trade union. This is a complicated piece of legislation involving pay and pension provision. It is expected that these discussions will conclude in the near future. A detailed circular will then issue to all institutes of technology.
