I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Cabra area is policed by three Garda stations – Mountjoy, Cabra and Bridewell – and that the Garda authorities are satisfied that this arrangement in no way lessens the ser vice provided to the residents there. In this regard, I am also informed that the Garda Síochána special projects and the Cabra community policing forum ensures there is a uniform and holistic policing policy for the entire Cabra area. The local divisional officer is satisfied that the existing boundaries do not detract from the police service provided to the Cabra area, but will continue to monitor the situation and will consider changes if deemed necessary. In relation to the allocation of personnel to the Cabra area, the Garda authorities inform me that the Assistant Commissioner Dublin Metropolitan Region is satisfied that personnel strengths at Cabra are sufficient to cover uniform protection duty at Áras an Uachtaráin.
With regard to the Deputy's query on public order vans, the Garda authorities have informed me that there are four public order vans attached to the K District comprising Blanchardstown, Finglas and Cabra stations. One van is attached to Finglas and three are attached to Blanchardstown. There are four official vehicles attached to Cabra Garda station and there are no plans to provide an additional public order van at Cabra Garda station.
