The final portion of balancing payments in respect of the 2002 special beef premium scheme – to producers with in excess of 50 animals – issued from 20 June onwards. To date special beef premium amounting to over €287 million has issued to a total of 74,257 producers representing 97.7% of all applications. The only payments now outstanding relate to cases where ownership of herds and other complex issues have yet to be finalised. My Department is continuing to resolve these matters with the individual producers concerned.
