210 Mr. Connolly asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the number of public service cuts proposed for his Department in 2004; the areas in which such proposed cuts will be effected; if they are likely to be at the coalface or the upper Department echelons; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It is proposed that my Department's authorised staff complement be reduced by up to five in 2004, primarily through natural wastage across the Department. My objective is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of both service and policy delivery by my Department. Any staffing reductions will be implemented in a way which does not adversely affect departmental activities.
