JOINT COMMITTEE ON FINANCE AND THE PUBLIC SERVICE díospóireacht -
Wednesday, 14 May 2003

Vol. 1 No. 8

Message to Dáil and Seanad.

In accordance with Standing Orders, the following message will be sent to the Dáil and Seanad:

The Joint Committee on Finance and the Public Service has completed its consideration of the revocation of Freedom of Information Act 1997 (Miscellaneous Revocations) Regulations 2003.

Are those issues to be agreed?

No they are not. They were referred to us for consideration. We only had to consider them and did not have to agree or disagree. There is no vote in the committee on this issue but there can be a vote in the Dáil.

I understand they are referred to the joint committee for consideration because under the legislation they are required to be approved in one way or another. They will now go back to each House. We could object to them here.

They will go back to the Dáil and Seanad for ultimate approval. As a committee we have concluded our business.

I am available to the committee to answer any relevant questions if needed at a future date.

Sitting suspended at 2.54 p.m. and resumed at 2.55 p.m.
