184 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the languages in which his Department’s telephone messages are recorded; and if his Department’s messages include a version in the Irish language. [11892/07]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Department published its Scheme under Section 11 of the Official Languages Act 2003 in November 2006. It details the services the Department will provide through the medium of Irish, through the medium of English and through the medium of Irish and English for the next three years. The Scheme commits the Department to work towards ensuring that all prerecorded oral announcements to our customers shall be in Irish, or in English and Irish. This objective will be achieved by the end of the 3 year period. In the meantime, the telephone messages of the Department of Foreign Affairs are at present recorded in English.
