Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation his plans to bring forward legislation to implement the recommendations of the 2008 Law Reform Commission report on the Privity of Contract and Third Party Rights; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe privity rule is a general principle of contract law and, as such, its reform is a matter for the Minister for Justice and Equality who has responsibility for civil law reform. As is evident from the draft Bill appended to its report, the Law Reform Commission was clear that implementation of its recommendations came within the remit of the Minister for Justice and Equality.
