Vol. 167 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Expenditure on Public Works and Buildings.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the main sub-heads under which the expenditure on public works and buildings was £750,000 below estimate and the approximate amount in each sub-head, differentiating between capital and current items.

The main sub-heads on which expenditure under the Vote for Public Works and Buildings fell below the estimate were:—

Sub-head A

—Purchase of Sites and Buildings

£14,000 (all capital)

Sub-head B

—New Works, Alterations and Additions

£590,000 (of which £479,000 was capital)

Sub-head D.

(1)—Furniture, Fittings and Utensils

£10,000 (non-capital)

Sub-head F

—Fuel, Light, Water, Cleaning, etc.

£22,000 (non-capital)

Sub-head K

—Purchase and Maintenance of Engineering Plant and Machinery and Stores

£64,000 (of which £32,500 was capital)

Surplus of Appropriations-in-Aid realised

The Appropriations-in-Aid, I take it, were all non-capital?

I think so, but I shall have the point verified and communicate with the Deputy.
