Vol. 251 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wicklow Housing Scheme.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he will confirm the application by Bray UDC, County Wicklow for a compulsory purchase order for 29 acres of land for the building of houses at Old Conna, Bray.

This order is at present under consideration in my Department and I will convey my decision thereon as soon as possible.

Is the Minister aware that the Wicklow County Council forwarded this application last May? At the present time in Bray there are more than 300 approved applicants on the housing list, with an equal number of unapproved applicants waiting for houses in the Bray area. The Minister should have regard to these figures and get a move on so that some building can start in the area.

The Minister is aware of all of the factors involved in this matter. I can assure the Deputy my Department will not be the cause of any delay in making a decision on this matter. There are other people involved besides my Department.
