Vol. 277 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Medical Officer Appointment.

58.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the concern of the people of the Kilgarvan Dispensary District, County Kerry, that there is no longer a resident medical officer in the area to cater for the medical card holders; and the steps he proposes to take to provide a resident doctor for the district.

The provision of general medical services for eligible persons in the Kilgarvan area is a matter for the Southern Health Board. I understand that the chief executive officer intends to submit to the board a proposal for the appointment of a doctor who must reside in Kilgarvan. Meanwhile, although the doctor who formerly resided in Kilgarvan has moved his residence to Kenmare, he continues to provide services to persons in Kilgarvan who are on his list of patients.

Questions Nos. 59, 60, 61 and 62 postponed.
