Vol. 319 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal River.

9.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will review his decision about the priority of the River Lennon, County Donegal, for drainage.

I have no plans to alter the position of the River Lennon in the arterial drainage programme. It must await its turn for consideration in that programme.

In view of the fact that agreement has been reached between Donegal County Council and the farmers concerned, would the Minister consider giving priority to the scheme?

The Minister answered that question.

Any change in the procedure for whatever reason involving the advancement of this scheme at the expense of displacement of others would give rise to strong protests from areas adversely affected by the change.

Would the Minister be prepared to meet a deputation from the council to discuss the implications involved for this arterial drainage scheme?

If the Deputy discusses that with me this evening I might arrange to meet a deputation.
