asked the Minister for Labour if he will state in respect of persons who completed work experience programmes in the past 12 months the numbers (i) retained by sponsors, (ii) employed elsewhere, (iii) unemployed and (iv) gone to further education.
On completion of full work experience programmes (i.e. 26 weeks) in the 12 month period ended 31 October 1983: (i) 4,920 participants were retained by sponsors; (ii) 1,690 participants secured employment elsewhere; (iii) 1,621 participants had not secured employment; (iv) 339 participants went to further education.
During the same period 899 left without completing the programme for various reasons including taking up employment and there were a further 1,772 participants for whom information is not available.
