Vol. 395 No. 6

Written Answers. - Scheme of Installation Aid.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

136 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of personnel involved in the processing of applications for young farmers installation aid; the average timescale which is involved in processing such applications; and if he is satisfied with the present system.

There are no specific officers assigned exclusively to deal with applications under the scheme of installation aid. These applications are processed by officers of Teagasc and the Department as part of their normal duties.

Because of the detailed examination required to comply with the relevant EC Regulations the determination of eligibility for the young farmer installation premium is inevitably a lengthy and complex process. The processing period is estimated on average to be 12 months.
