Vol. 399 No. 7

Written Answers. - Road Grants.

Ruairí Quinn

Ceist:

102 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for the Environment the amounts of grants paid for repair of forestry roads in each local authority for 1989 and 1990.

I presume the question relates to county roads which give access to forests.

Details of the special road grants to local authorities in 1989 and 1990 to undertake improvements to specific forest access roads are set out in the table below. In addition to these grants it is open to local authorities to avail of the discretionary grants for regional and county roads to carry out work on forest access roads. The discretionary grants to county councils amounted to £47.427 million in 1989 and £66.885 million in 1990.
