Vol. 403 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

90 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in the payment of a rebate of tax to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and when this rebate will now be made.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer ceased employment on 7 July, 1990 and received a retirement pension on 9 July, 1990. She submitted a claim to the inspector of taxes on 8 August, 1990 for repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment. An amended certificate of tax-free allowances, which would enable any refund due to be made, was issued to the payer of the pension on 19 September, 1990. However, it has transpired that the payer of the pension did not correctly operate this certificate. They are aware now of the position and the tax deducted from the taxpayer's earnings to the date of cessation of her employment will be refunded to her with her next pension payment.
