369 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment whether FÁS community employment scheme supervisors are covered by national agreements; the formula, if any, for negotiating wage increases for supervisors; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21831/96]
Community employment (CE) supervisors are not FÁS employees. Sponsors of individual CE projects employ supervisors and accordingly pay and conditions are matters between the employer (i.e. the sponsor) and the individual supervisor.
FÁS provides a grant towards supervision costs to each sponsor. I have recently sanctioned an increase of 4 per cent in the level of grant paid to sponsors to defray supervision costs.
