Written Answers. - Teaching Posts.
The remedial posts in question were allocated by my predecessor as part of an arrangement agreed with the Irish National Teachers' Organisation relating to redistribution of the demographic dividend for the 1997-8 school year.
Schools selected for receipt of these posts were notified of their allocation in May 1997 and the posts were to become operative from the commencement of the 1997-8 school year. The actual date of appointment of the teachers in question is a matter for the individual boards of management of the selected schools.
