Ceist:

333 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when land (details supplied) in County Mayo was sold by his Department; the amount it was sold for at that time; and if it was sold by public auction or by another method. [16312/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 263, 264 and 265, inclusive, and Question No. 333 together.

My Department, as successor to the Irish Land Commission, sold the fee simple of certain land in the townland of Corlee, in February 2001. This property was sold subject to existing turbary rights in favour of other parties and in accordance with the provisions of section 8 of the Irish Land Commission (Dissolution) Act, 1992. It was advertised for sale by my Department in a local newspaper in February 2000 and interested parties were subsequently invited to tender for the land. I have arranged to write to the Deputy giving the name of the purchaser and the purchase price. When land is sold by my Department, it may be sold subject, inter alia, to turbary rights. These rights may appear as a burden on the folio for the lands sold. The interests of the various parties in, on or over the land are protected by both statute and common law. Disputes arising between the various interest holders are matters for resolution between the parties either by negotiation or by way of application to court. Disputes are not a matter for my Department to resolve.

Folio number 39642F County Mayo mentioned in parliamentary questions 16340/02 and 16312/02 does not relate to land in the townland of Corlee.
