Committee on Budgetary Oversight to discuss tax expenditure with ESRI

The Committee on Budgetary Oversight will discuss tax expenditure with representatives from the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI)) at a meeting in Leinster House, Committee Room 1 tomorrow, Thursday, 24 June at 9.30am.

Dr. Barra Roantree and Dr Theano Kakoulidou from the ESRI; and Dr Michéal Collins, Assistant Professor, School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice, University College Dublin will join the meeting virtually.

Committee Cathaoirleach, Neasa Hourigan TD said: “Dr Roantree and Dr Kakoulidous co-authored the recent ESRI report: Options for raising tax revenue in Ireland. Dr Collins was a member of the 2008-2009 Commission on Taxation. Within the Commission he chaired the subgroup which examined Tax Expenditure.

“The Committee welcomes this engagement to discuss recent research and views on taxation particularly tax expenditure as part of the Committee’s annual budgetary oversight process.”
