Joint Committee to consider petitions from members of the public

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 14 October, at 1.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House to consider petitions.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Martin Browne said: “The Committee will discuss a number of petitions from members of the public, including one relating to the Office of the Ombudsman for the Defence Forces and the Ombudsman (Defence Forces) 2004 Act, and a call for family liaison officers, human rights investigations and emergency medical treatment in prisons.

“Other petitions before the Committee include a request that authorities prioritise urgent environmental issues and enforce actions against non-adherence to environmental laws and regulations, a call for a ban on all fossil fuel and hybrid vehicles advertising on all Irish media, and two petitions claiming discrimination against non-EU doctors taking medical exams in Ireland.”

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.

The meeting in the Committee Room 4 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
