Joint Committee on Public Petitions to meet with Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 31 March, to discuss the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman’s 2020 Annual Report and related matters.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House will hear from Ms MaryRose McGovern, Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (Acting) and Ms Aine Carroll, Director of Corporate and Communication Services.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Martin Browne said: “The Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman is an independent, free service that helps resolve complaints from consumers, including small businesses and other organisations, against financial service providers and pension providers. The Committee looks forward to meeting with Ms McGovern and Ms Carroll and having a wide-ranging discussion on the 2020 Report and related matters.

“We will also consider a number two petitions from members of the public, a call to ‘Condemn Cuba for Human Rights Issues’ and a request to ‘Ban herbicides in public areas’.”

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.

The meeting in the Committee Room 4 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
