Vol. 530 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

405 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science if a school transport service will be provided for a primary school (details supplied) in County Mayo. [4494/01]

The position generally is that a primary school transport service may be established, where there are at least seven eligible pupils offering for transport to a school from a distinct locality. In order to be eligible for transport, pupils must reside two miles or more from their nearest national school.

A formal application for the establishment of a transport service has not been received from the school in question. If the school provides details of the names and addresses of the pupils concerned to my Department, the matter will be examined as a matter of urgency.
