The Joint Committee on the Future of Mental Healthcare has published its second interim report. The report is entitled Recommended actions arising from progress made to date.

The committee was established in July 2017 with the aim of achieving cross-party agreement on the implementation of a single, long-term vision for mental health care and the direction of mental health policy in Ireland.

“Overall, this report shines a light on the glaring inadequacies of the Irish mental health service, and the urgent need for action to be taken, particularly in the areas of primary care, recruitment and funding,” said Senator Joan Freeman, chair of the committee.
