The British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly returned to Ireland in April, taking place over two days in Wicklow.

The plenary was witness to the first address on bilateral ties by the new Taoiseach, Simon Harris, in which he stated that although previous generations have started "a great and enduring peace", we have yet to see the potential prosperity afforded by the Good Friday Agreement. The plenary also heard from Irish Minister of State with responsibility for tourism, Deputy Thomas Byrne, and the British Ambassador to Ireland, Paul Johnston.

In other work accomplished by the assembly, the economic committee published a report on energy security, calling on governments in BIPA jurisdictions to formulate clear plans to recruit and train a sufficient workforce to retrofit energy inefficient buildings to help them meet each country’s respective decarbonisation goals.
