Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to discuss Electric Vehicles with SIMI and ESB

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 30 November, for a discussion on Electric Vehicles with the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) and the ESB.

The meeting at 3pm in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House will hear from Brian Cooke, Director General of SIMI, and John Byrne, ECars Manager with ESB.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “Electric vehicles will have a part to play in our future transport mix, in conjunction with shifting journeys to other sustainable modes such as active travel and public transport in our plan to cut Ireland’s emissions by 51 per cent by 2030. The Committee looks forward to discussing these and related matters with SIMI and the ESB.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
