The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 30 January, at 11am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House with representatives of EirGrid to discuss general oversight and related matters.
The meeting will hear from Mr Mark Foley, Chief Executive; Mr Michael Mahon, Chief Infrastructure Officer; and Mr Liam Ryan, Chief Innovation and Planning Officer.
Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “EirGrid is the State body responsible for the development, management and operations of Ireland’s electricity transmission grid. This includes the single wholesale electricity market for the island of Ireland and interconnections with Great Britain and France.
“Since EirGrid falls under the responsibility of the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications, oversight of EirGrid is within the remit of this Joint Committee. Members welcome this oversight engagement with EirGrid and we look forward to a detailed and wide-ranging discussion with Mr Foley and his colleagues.”
The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
