Oireachtas Library & Research Service Has Compiled Study on Accuracy of Irish Opinion Polls

18 Feabh 2011, 10:46

Just to remind you that the Houses of the Oireachtas Library & Research Service has compiled a detailed study which examined the influence opinion polls may have on voter behaviour and considered their accuracy in predicting Irish election results.

The research was initially published in February 2009 as Part of the Oireachtas Library & Research Service’s Spotlight series. The information may be informative for the media during the present period.

The research was done in conjunction with Professor Michael Marsh, Trinity College Dublin. The research also examined restrictions on the publication of poll results across Europe due to the perceived impact polls can have on voters and trends in voter behaviour in referendums were also described.

They research is available on our website at: Opinion Polls
