The Clerk of Dáil Éireann, Mr. Kieran Coughlan wishes to confirm receipt of the report of the “Tribunal of Inquiry into suggestions that members of An Garda Siochana or other employees of the State colluded in the fatal shootings of RUC Chief Superintendent Harry Breen and RUC Superintendent Robert Buchanan on the 20th March, 1989 “ from Judge Peter Smithwick. Chairman and Sole Member of the Smithwick Tribunal.
Under the Tribunal of Inquiries (Evidence) (Amendment) Act 2002, the Clerk of the Dáil is obliged to ensure that publication of the report would not prejudice any potential judicial proceedings. Following completion of his obligations in that regard, the report will be laid in the Houses of the Oireachtas library.
