Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to outline his priority issues when he meets the Oireachtas Agriculture Committee

10 DFómh 2011, 17:21

The Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture will meet with Simon Coveney, TD, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food on tomorrow, Tuesday, 11th October at 1.30 pm in Leinster House. The Minister will use this meeting to outline his priority issues and areas of special interest for the sector.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Chairman of the Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture, Andrew Doyle, TD, said: “Our meeting tomorrow gives the members of the Committee an opportunity to hear at first hand from the Minister about his priority issues.  Agriculture is integral to Ireland’s economic future and issues such as CAP, its reform and future are a source of much debate for farmers and farming families the length and breadth of the country.  The reform of the Common Fisheries Policy that is viable for our fishermen is vital for the future of our fishing industry and for communities who are dependent on fishing and related activities for their survival.   I look forward to discussing these and many other related issues with the Minister”.

The Committee will meet at 1.30 pm on Tuesday, 11th October in Committee Room 3, Leinster House 2000.
