Report Launch: Seanad Public Consultation Committee

23 Márta 2012, 14:29

You are invited to attend, or send a representative, to the launch of a report by the Seanad Public Consultation Committee on ‘The Rights of Older People’. It takes place on Wednesday, 28 March at 12:30 p.m. in the A/V Room of Leinster House.

The Committee, established last year to strengthen dialogue between the Seanad and public on a range of policy issues, invited submissions from relevant stakeholders on the Rights of Older People. Public hearings with senators on the floor of the Seanad followed comprehensive written submissions.

Event: Launch of Report on ‘The Rights of Older People’ by the Seanad Public Consultation Committee
Location: A/V Room, Leinster House
Date: Wednesday, 28 March 2012
Time: 12.30 p.m

Chairman Senator Denis O’Donovan along with other Committee Members will be in attendance and available for questions.

Senator O’Donovan says: “The report addresses the issues raised with and discussed by the Committee in a comprehensive manner. It reflects the collective wisdom of key stakeholders and leading academic experts in the area who contributed to the consultation. It is a timely report, given that in the next three decades, the number of people in Ireland over 65 is expected to double.

“The report offers concise, practical and achievable recommendations on the best policy approaches to bolstering the rights of our older citizens.”
