Oireachtas Environment Committee to meet with An Bord Pleanála chair Dr Mary Kelly

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht will discuss the decision-making process of An Bord Pleanála with its chairperson Dr Mary Kelly at its meeting tomorrow, Tuesday 9th October, 2012.

Cathaoirleach of the Oireachtas Committee on the Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht, Ciaran Lynch, TD said: “An Bord Pleanála is an independent, statutory body responsible for the determination of appeals of planning decisions and decides on strategic infrastructure development projects. It is also responsible for dealing with proposals for the compulsory acquisition of land by local authorities and hears applications from local authorities for projects that would have a significant environmental impact. Committee members will have a chance to engage with An Bord Pleanála’s chairperson at our meeting tomorrow and raise any issues or concerns they may have on its decision-making process.”
