Agriculture Committee to consider Animal Health and Welfare Bill 2012

7 Samh 2012, 17:32

The Select Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine will meet with Minister Simon Coveney TD to consider the Animal Health Bill 2012.

7 November 2012

Chairman of the Committee Andrew Doyle TD says: “Tomorrow’s meeting will allow us an opportunity to consider the Animal Health and Welfare Bill, which is at the third stage of the five-stage legislative process.”

“The prosperity of the food industry, worth up to €10 billion annually, is directly related to the safety of the food we are producing. Indeed, animal health, animal welfare and farm profitability are fundamentally interlinked and of equal importance. The Animal Health and Welfare Bill 2012 underwent considerable debate in the Seanad and is now at Committee stage. Tomorrow our Committee will have an opportunity to carefully consider this important Bill with the Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney TD.”

The meeting will take place tomorrow Thursday 8 November in Committee Room 4, LH 2000 at 9:30 am.
