Health Committee to discuss pre-budget submissions with health interest groups

7 Samh 2012, 13:21

The Committee on Health and Children will meet with a number of health interest groups tomorrow, Thursday 8th November, 2012 to discuss their pre-Budget submissions.

Among the groups attending tomorrow’s meeting are: Irish Heart Foundation; The Carers Association; Disability Federation of Ireland; Older and Bolder; Children's Rights Alliance; Mental Health Reform; and National Federation of Voluntary Bodies.

Committee Chairman Jerry Buttimer TD said: “Tomorrow we will meet with a wide variety of health interest groups and stakeholders to discuss their priorities in the forthcoming budget for the development, delivery and maintenance of healthcare and children’s services over a range of areas.

Ahead of the Budget, it is important to meet with and hear at first-hand from those involved in the healthcare sector to get their perspective on their main concerns and how they would see any budgetary changes impacting on their areas.

It gives Committee Members a chance to have a focussed examination of the various pre-Budget submissions and to further explore any points raised.”

The meeting starts at 9.30am on Thursday, 8th November in Committee Room 2, LH 2000.
