Oireachtas Health Committee to meet with Health Minister and HSE CEO

19 Samh 2012, 16:04

Members of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children will tomorrow, Tuesday 20th November 2012, hold its quarterly meeting with the Minister for Health James Reilly TD and Tony O’Brien, director general designate of the Health Service Executive (HSE).

Minister of State with responsibility for Primary Care, Alex White TD, and Minister of State with responsibility for Disability, Equality, Mental Health and Older People, Kathleen Lynch TD, will also appear before the Committee.

This meeting will provide an opportunity for members of the Committee to raise issues regarding the delivery of health and social care services.  Minister Reilly will also update the Joint Committee on the health aspects of this week’s Council of Ministers meeting in Brussels.

The quarterly meeting provides an opportunity for committee members to hear directly from the individuals who are in charge of the agencies with principle responsibility for delivering the country’s health and social care services.

Committee Chairman, Jerry Buttimer TD said: “Tomorrow, the Committee will continue with its important remit of observing and examining the work and roles of the Department and the HSE. It will provide members of the Committee with an opportunity to directly question those charged with running the country’s health and childcare services and to raise issues or concerns they may have in a number of areas.”

This meeting will take place in Committee Room 2 Leinster House at 4.30pm on Tuesday, 20th November 2012.
