Minister to meet Jobs Committee ahead of EU COMPET Council Meeting

The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD will attend the meeting of the Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation tomorrow, Tuesday, 4th December 2012 ahead of the forthcoming COMPET Council meeting.

Chairman of the Committee Deputy Damien English said: “The role of the Competitiveness Council is to ensure the enhancement of competitiveness and growth in Europe. The Council meets four times annually and deals with the fields of the internal single market, industry, space, research and innovation. The development of the single market is one of the main policy areas for the competitiveness council. The Minister will brief Committee members ahead of the forthcoming COMPET meeting on 10th and 11th December. Our Committee engagement with the Minister tomorrow is a valuable opportunity to explore Irish government policy, issues of concern and key priorities in the area of competition, innovation and the development of the single market with the Minister in advance of this meeting.”

This meeting will take place on Tuesday, 4th December 2012, in Committee Room 2, Leinster House 2000 at 1.30pm.
