PAC to resume examination of PPPs

12 Noll 2012, 12:56

The Committee of Public Accounts will continue with its examination of financial commitments under Public Private Partnerships as well as considering financial statements from the National Development Finance Agency when it meets with Brian Murphy, Chief Executive, National Development Finance Agency tomorrow, Thursday, 13th December 2012.

Committee Chairman John McGuinness said: “As well as considering the current PPP environment and how the Government’s July 2012 stimulus package can stimulate the PPP market, we will also be keen to determine how much money has been wasted on cancelled PPP projects, examine the PPP projects in the pipeline and potential future commitments for the State and discuss how PPPs can be used to progress projects which may otherwise not be able to go ahead. The Private Finance Initiative used in the UK and how it compares to PPPs in Ireland may also be explored at our meeting tomorrow. It will also be an opportunity to consider the role and functions of the National Development Finance Agency in management of PPPs.”

This meeting starts at 10am on Thursday, 13th December in Committee Room 1, LH 2000.
