Education Committee to consider Education and Training Boards Bill 2012

16 Ean 2013, 14:48

The Select Committee on Education and Skills will tomorrow meet to consider the Education and Training Boards Bill 2012 with Minister for Education and Skill Ruairi Quinn TD.

16 January 2013

The Education and Training Boards Bill will replace the nine existing Vocational Education Acts with one piece of composite legislation.  It provides for the establishment of 16 Education and Training Boards, replacing the current 33 Vocational Education Committees.

Access Bill.

Committee Chair Joanna Tuffy TD says: “Tomorrow’s meeting will allow us an opportunity to consider the Education and Training Boards Bill, which is at Committee stage of the legislative process. In October, our Committee heard the perspectives of the Teachers’ Union of Ireland and the National Adult Literacy Agency on the Bill. The concerns raised by the TUI and NALA around the composition of the new Boards will feed into our discussions with Minister Quinn tomorrow.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow Thursday 17 January at 10 a.m. in Committee Room 3, Leinster House 2000.
