The Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications will tomorrow hear observations from Tiománaí Tacsaí na hÉireann on the Taxi Regulation Bill 2012.
13 February 2013
Tiománaí Tacsaí na hÉireann was founded in 2010 to represent the views of full time, single licence holding taxi drivers. Their presentation tomorrow is likely to point to the ongoing difficulties being experienced by their members, including the pressure created by limited rank spaces, as well as the perceived lack of consultation on changes within the industry.
Chairman of the Committee Tom Hayes TD says: “The Taxi Regulation Bill 2012, which our Committee is involved in shaping, sets out to comprehensively deal with the industry into the future. We look forward to hearing from Tiomanaí Tacsaí na h'Éireann on their views on the Bill, as it progresses through the Houses. A central issue for this Committee is to ensure any new legislation fosters an efficient, cost-effective and safe service for consumers while maintaining a living wage for drivers.”
The meeting takes place in Committee Room 3, LH 2000, tomorrow Thursday 14 February, commencing at 10 a.m.
