You are invited to attend, or send a representative, to the launch of a report by the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport and Communications on promoting a sustainable future for Ireland’s post office network. The report launch takes place tomorrow afternoon in the A/V Room in Leinster House.
The Committee held public hearings and invited submissions from interested individuals and groups on the matter.

Committee Chairman Tom Hayes TD along with other Members will be in attendance and available for questions.
Deputy Hayes says: “The post office is deeply rooted in communities across the country and our Committee has been investigating, through meetings and a public submissions process, how the network can best be sustained into the future. We believe that this is a practical and common-sense Report, which focuses on a number of areas which would provide the best prospect for the retention of the maximum possible number of Post Offices, of which there are currently some 1,150. The Joint Committee is cognisant of the huge pressures currently facing Post Offices and would hope that this Report might provide a roadmap for how the sector might consolidate and, indeed, how that outcome might be supported by the State.”
Copies will be available at the launch and the report will be published online following the event.
