Sub-Committee on Public Expenditure and Reform to discuss National Lottery Bill

26 Márta 2013, 14:53

Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin TD will appear before the Sub-Committee on Public Expenditure and Reform tomorrow, tomorrow, Wednesday, 27th March 2013 for the committee stage of the National Lottery Bill 2012.

Ciarán Lynch, TD, Chairman of the Sub-Committee: “The Government has decided that there will be a competition for the award of the next National Lottery licence and that the successful bidder for the new licence will be required to make an upfront payment to the State. In order to facilitate the holding of the competition, the legislation governing the National Lottery has to be revised. The National Lottery Bill updates the original 1986 National Lottery Act and also includes certain new provisions, for example the establishment of a new independent National Lottery Regulator. At this stage, the Bill will receive detailed consideration and Committee Members will have the opportunity to propose and discuss any amendments to this legislation.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 4, Leinster House at 2pm on Wednesday, 27th March 2013.
