PAC to focus on National Gallery of Ireland

20 Samh 2013, 14:37

The National Gallery of Ireland is before the Committee of Public Accounts tomorrow Thursday, 20th November 2013. Director of the Gallery Sean Rainbird and Chair of the Board Olive Braiden will attend the meeting.

Committee Chairman John McGuinness TD said: “The Gallery’s Appropriation Account for 2012 is on agenda this week. We will also deal with a chapter in the 2012 Comptroller & Auditor General’s Annual Report concerning staff appointments. In terms of the Appropriation Account, questions could centre on the Gallery’s Master Development Plan. This is a large development project intended to bring the Gallery into line with international museum standards. Costs and potential benefits of this project could be discussed. The chapter concerning staff appointments deals with two separate staff issues. The first is the payment of removal expenses to the Director, which the C&AG considered did not comply with Department of Public Expenditure & Reform sanction. The second matter is costs of €420,000 in relation to the reinstatement of six security attendants where they were deemed to have contracts of indefinite duration by the Labour Court.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 1 at 10am, Thursday, 21st November 2013.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.
