Communications sub-Committee to consider Bill to facilitate ESB networks for rural broadband

Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Pat Rabbitte TD will come before the Select sub-Committee on Communications, Energy and Natural Resources tomorrow, Thursday 6 February to discuss the ESB (Electronic Communications Networks) Bill.

The Bill seeks to provide a legal basis to allow the ESB engage in electronic communications networks and services.

Sub-Committee Chairman John O’Mahony TD says: “This meeting will allow our sub-Committee carefully consider this important piece of legislation, which seeks to facilitate the roll out of high quality broadband across rural areas through the ESB’s networks. We look forward to engaging with Minister Rabbitte on the Bill, which is at the third stage of the five-stage legislative process.”

This meeting will start at 2 pm tomorrow, Thursday 6 February, in Committee Room 4, Leinster House.
