National Treasury Management Agency and National Pension Reserve Fund to appear before PAC

12 Feabh 2014, 09:52

The accounts and financial statements of the National Treasury Management Agency and the National Pension Reserve Fund will be on the agenda of the Committee of Public Accounts tomorrow, Thursday, 13th February 2014.

12 February 2014

John Corrigan, Chief executive of the National Treasury Management Agency will be before the Committee this week to discuss Chapter 2 of the C&AG 2012 Annual Report; Government Debt, Chapter 28; the Accounts of the NTMA and Chapter 29; the Clinical Indemnity Scheme.  The National Pension Reserve Fund accounts for 2012 are also on the agenda and the Chairman of the NPRF Commission, Paul Carty, will be in attendance to assist members with any questions on this area.

Chairman of the Committee John McGuinness said: “The Committee will be keen to examine Ireland’s recent exit from the EU/IMF programme with the NTMA as well as Ireland’s re-entry to the debt markets. Current bond yields, demand at auctions, profiles of investors and the effect of the Moody’s upgrade on interest could form the basis of our discussions. The continuing increases in both the general government debt and the gross national debt and their management will clearly be of concern to the Committee as well as our current debt servicing costs. In terms of the NTMA accounts, the Committee may wish to discuss progress on the NTMA’s intensive investor relations programme. Other areas of interest may include NewEra’s achievements to date, its new advisory functions and its participation in the establishment of Irish Water. The NTMA’s current staff allocation and skill sets could also be reviewed.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 1 at 10am on Thursday, 13th February 2014.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.
