Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD will appear before the Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation tomorrow, Tuesday 18th February to brief members ahead of the forthcoming European Council of COMPET meeting.
Committee Chairman Damien English TD said: “Tomorrow, Minister Richard Bruton will address our committee ahead of the forthcoming European Competitiveness Council (COMPET) on 20th and 21st February. The COMPET Council aims to enhance competitiveness and economic growth in Europe through a focus on the internal market, industry and enterprise, research, innovation and space. Our meeting provides the Minister with an opportunity to outline what they see are the key priorities for driving jobs, growth, innovation and competitiveness at European and national level. Committee members will have a chance to engage with both Ministers on the items to be discussed at the upcoming COMPET meeting, including industrial competitiveness, the internal market and industry as well as research, innovation and space policy.”
This meeting will start at 1.30pm tomorrow, Tuesday, 18th February 2014 in Committee Room 2, Leinster House.
Following this meeting, the Committee will consider the County Enterprise Boards (Dissolution) Bill 2013 with Minister Bruton.
Deputy English said: “This Bill provides for the dissolution of County Enterprise Boards and the transfer of their functions to Enterprise Ireland. Tomorrow, the Bill will receive detailed consideration and members will have the opportunity to propose and discuss any amendments to the legislation as published.”
This meeting will start at 2.45pm in Committee Room 2.
