Committee Chairman, Jerry Buttimer TD said: “Concerns have been expressed recently about some incidents involving the National Ambulance Service. HIQA was due to carry out a review of the ambulance service in the second quarter of the year. However, at our meeting with Minister for Health James Reilly last month, he confirmed that he had spoken to both the chairman and the CEO of the HIQA and they have agreed to fast track that review so that all relevant matters might be investigated. Tomorrow, our committee will have an opportunity to get an update on the National Ambulance Service from a number of parties and to get their perspectives on the issues involved.”

The meeting will start at 3.30pm in Committee Room 1, Leinster House tomorrow, Tuesday, 25th February 2014.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
