Transport Committee to consider PSV licence reforms

4 Márta 2014, 12:26

Representatives from the National Transport Authority are before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport and Communications to consider the proposed reforms to PSV licences. Gerry Murphy, Chief Executive and Hugh Creegan, Director with responsibility for taxi regulation, will address the Committee.

4 March 2014

The provisions are contained in the draft Statutory Instrument for the Small Public Service Vehicle (Consolidation and Reform) Regulations 2014, accessible on the NTA website.

Chairman of the Committee John O’Mahony TD says: “Taxis and hackneys constitute an important part of our transport infrastructure and these regulations will have a significant impact on the sector. The Committee looks forward to hearing from NTA representatives on the draft regulations which seek to consolidate all existing taxi regulations into one statutory instrument. Following publication of the draft SI in December, the NTA received a wide range of submissions from interested individuals and organisations through a public consultation. We look forward to engaging with NTA representatives on the likely practical impact of the regulations on taxi, hackney and limousine drivers nationwide.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow Wednesday 5 March at 9:30 am in Committee Room 4, LH 2000 and can be viewed online here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
