Health Committee to consider Early Years Strategy

5 Márta 2014, 12:55

The Joint Committee on Health and Children will focus on the Early Years Strategy when it meets with representatives from the Early Years Expert Advisory Group and the Centre for Effective Services at 12.15pm tomorrow, Thursday, 6th March 2014.

Committee Chairman, Jerry Buttimer TD said: “Last October, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Frances Fitzgerald launched ‘Right from the Start’, the report of the Expert Advisory Group established to make recommendations for Ireland’s first-ever Early Years Strategy which is currently being prepared by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs. Tomorrow we will receive an update on the strategy, consider the report’s recommendations, examine the challenges we face as a nation in implementing an early years strategy and discuss the benefits from early interventions in the early years of children’s lives, while members will have an opportunity to raise any issues they may have on the strategy.”

The meeting will start at 12.15pm in Committee Room 2.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
