The Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform will continue its hearings on mortgage arrears with the four main banks tomorrow, Wednesday, 9th April, 2014 when it meets with Jeremy Masding, Chief Executive of Permanent TSB and David Duffy, Chief Executive of Allied Irish Bank.

The schedule for the meeting is:

Session B: 2 pm - David Duffy, CEO, Allied Irish Bank

Committee Chairman Ciarán Lynch TD said: “Tomorrow we will again focus on the issue of mortgage arrears and the resolution process to deal with the issue of arrears by providing long-term solutions. Committee Members will have an opportunity to examine how both AIB and Permanent TSB are meeting their targets of providing sustainable mortgage solutions for distressed borrowers and dealing with the new insolvency legislation and the Insolvency Service of Ireland.

“It will also be an opportunity for committee members to get an update from both banks on their general lending policies, in particular how the banks are engaging with new mortgage lending and how they are responding to meeting the needs of prospective homebuyers, while we will also be keen to be brought up to date on the banks’ commercial lending policy and providing credit to SMEs and small firms.”

This meeting will start at 10am on Wednesday, 9th April 2014 in Committee Room 4, Leinster House 2000.
