Marine Committee to meet with Chairperson Designate of Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board

9 Aib 2014, 15:40

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine will tomorrow meet with Imelda Reynolds, Chairperson Designate of the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board.

9 April 2014

The Board was established in 1998 as an independent appeals body to determine decisions of the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine on aquaculture licence applications.

Committee Chairman Andrew Doyle TD says: “Under the Programme for Government, those who are being proposed for appointment as chairpersons of State boards are required to make themselves available to the appropriate Oireachtas Committee. Tomorrow, we will have an opportunity to question Imelda Reynolds on her vision and priorities for the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board. The Board hears aquaculture appeals from customers, the public or environmental organisations who feel aggrieved by a decision of the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine on an aquaculture licence application, or by the revocation or amendment of an aquaculture licence.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow Thursday 10 April at 10 am in Committee Room 3, LH 2000. It can be viewed online here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
